We are seeking funding for our upcoming project, “Do Your Part To Save A Heart!”, which centers on providing FREE CPR/FirstAid/AED training to the Communities of Detroit. In our research, we discovered that over 4,000 choking related deaths occur in the United States each year. Statistics from the CDC in 2017 show that 1 of every 7 people will die related to sudden cardiac arrest.
The goals of the project are as follows:
To provide FREE CPR/FirstAid/AED training to ALL COMMUNITIES IN THE DETROIT AREA.
To provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to a crisis where first aid techniques are needed.
To increase awareness about the importance of CPR/FirstAid/AED training and encourage more people to get trained.
If we receive funding for this project, we will be able to train thousands of people to be ready for sudden cardiac arrest situations, choking emergencies, and other crises where first aid techniques are needed. It is important to educate and prepare, as during emergencies, you don’t know how long it will take the paramedics to arrive. Chest compressions help to keep the blood flowing, providing oxygen to vital organs such as the brain before the emergency unit arrives. It only takes four minutes for a child to suffer from permanent brain damage due to lack of oxygen. Unfortunately, only 18% of people are up to date on their training.
